iNeighbour TV – Social iTV Targeted to Senior Citizens
Social iTV applications may get their audience in a significant way from young generations. However, when a more socially isolated audience is considered, such as the senior citizens, it becomes possible to also identify a potential interest in the adoption of services which promote sociability, specially taking in to account the use of friendly and accessible equipment such as the TV set. The adoption of strategies which are less demanding towards digital literacy is especially relevant as this audience is mostly less familiarized with PC tools, which may be substantiated by their low usage of social and communication internet services.
This is the environment in which the iNeighbour TV project aims to seize television, a device of familiar interaction paradigms and strong penetration in the Portuguese households with a related consumption that triggers conversations, representing an important contribution (directly or indirectly) to social network’s dynamics.
